Find a local nanny for your family

There are websites which helps makes finding nannies with experience, background checks and reviews easier. First I would like to recommend SitterCity

Another option would be Care.com and they offer more than nannies and occasional sitters to choose from. There is a variety of services such as senior care, housekeepers and pet sitting. This helps make travel and date nights easier for parents all over.

Ideas to earn extra money as an oilfield spouse

Being an oilfield wife can be lonely or hard for work opportunities. You may move a lot or would not be able to afford the expensive childcare costs. Let's face it; oilfield workers typically also work very long hours.

Would you enjoy teaching English virtually? Apply for this work from home position

I loved being a stay at home mom but I was always still on the hunt for ways to earn additional income. And preferably from home. I was not wanting to have to pay for a nanny or baby-sitter which would eat at majority of an hourly pay jobs profit in my area at the time.

Recently I noticed Aspire had quite a few remote jobs to apply to in categories such as marketing, engineering, finance, sales and more.

Sometimes companies such as HellosignMintedTinkergartenPunch Bowl, Moms MeetThe Mom Project and Remote Year hires remote workers.

Uber Eats allows you the opportunity to make money with food deliveries

Want to get paid for influencer marketing on your social media pages? See if you qualify with this company; Heartbeat

Start a photgraphy business

Rent out your swimming pool

DoorDash and Chewy hires remote workers sometimes I notice on their website.

Things to do with children in Oklahoma City metro area

Bricktown

I prefer visiting Bricktown week days after six. I can find free street parking after six. There is a movie theater, restaurants and a ferris wheel now. There is an arcade like place that offers laser tag and mini golf.

If you head west; downtown OKC has the Myriad Botanical Gardens as well as an ice skating rink. Often times the Myriad Botanical Gardens offers classes and activities for all ages.

Last I checked there was adult yoga and story time for children. The crystal bridge at this OKC tourist attraction is beautiful in the Summer months. You’ll see fish, turtles and gardens generally.

I have visited during winter months so suggest visiting when the flowers are blooming at least. There is a fee for entry.

Indoor Playgrounds

Oklahoma City

Edmond

Mustang

I love Oklahoma City and there is so much to do for babies and children. The libraries always have free things for children and community centers such as Midwest City’s often offers affordable recreational sports.

In the Summer time there are free splash pads. I think one of the best ones is downtown at Scissortail park. Midwest City has one called Lions Splash pad but it is not my favorite. It is free so still great for toddlers with supervision of course.

There are mommy and me swim lessons for babies at  Aqua-tots. My favorite parks to take my wild child is Scissortail park although some of my other favorites are in the Moore/Norman area so be sure to check them out one day.

Martin Nature Park is closer to Edmond. A friend told me you cannot take dogs which could make sense because there’s often deer you’ll see if you go frequently. It’s a cute spot to get sightings of squirrel, deer and nature.

If you have older children; they will most likely have a lot of fun at Main Event; not too far from Edmond. It is in north Oklahoma City and if you join their newsletter; they often have fantastic weekday deals.

I prefer taking my family to Top Golfduring morning hours actually since it is cheaper I’ve noticed. Not sure how long that will last but right now it seems to be cheaper before noon. My son loved going even when he was three since the have children’s golf clubs.

You can do arts and crafts in Edmond over at Unpluggits and there’s even an indoor playground inside. This place also offers birthday parties as well as many of the indoor playgrounds listed.

Online Consignment Shops

Thanks to the oilfield; In some areas I lived in...there was not many shopping options.

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1FqCn6tyETByb_4_AKhwznMmZ_ZkKRal8

I also love a good deal. I’ve never been into paying full price for luxury brands since my grandma got me quite addicted to thrifting and yard sales.

I learned fast that you can find some designer labels at bargain prices.  I love to splurge on things like gifts or travel. However; when it comes to children's clothes for example; I prefer to shop second-hand. Besides; they grow out of the clothing so fast!

Some of these companies often allows you to sell, donate or trade items as well. This is awesome for moms wanting to get rid of gently used baby and children’s clothing. I know I had so many baby clothes that were not ever worn and had tags on them.

I am all about donating but I wanted a way to earn some income at home to buy new children’s items or use towards bills.

These companies below I’ve profited from and enjoyed. I still use them to this day! The money really comes in handy for expenses such as gas and savings.

I have being consigning on Swap.com for years and I absolutely love it. Normally I would use apps that I have to provide photos, listings, customer service and shipping for. Now that I use this company; they handle all that extra work for me. Another option I have tried was ThredUp however keep reading for more options...

As for the companies listed above...I will go over a bit how it works. You just request or print a shipping label, send in what you want to consign and get paid when it sells. I have been receiving checks in the mail for what the company sells for me. I still love other re-selling apps, platforms and stores but I feel like I really get what my item is worth using this company.

Just the fact they make the item look wrinkle-free and they list a professional-looking photo makes it worth while for me. Check the website for updated rules, policies, accepted items and more. Children outgrow clothing so fast so this site is so helpful for me in that aspect. The store near me that buy used children's item do not give you much at all for the items they do accept. They also seem pickier on what they choose to buy based on seasons alone.

When I am doing my seasonal closet clean-outs; I usually have some new and gently used items that would be great for re-selling. When you fill up your bag or box you ship to the company to sell; you want to only send in items that are in nice condition. So nothing with holes, stains, tears or rips.

With the items they do not accept; you can opt for them to be donated or you can choose to pay a fee for the items to be shipped back. This is also a wonderful place to shop and score great deals. I have used the company for over five years and made payments from them over that time span selling items from my own closet; so it is a neat way to make extra money from home.

Other re-selling from options are depop for vintage looks or  Buffalo Exchange if you like the whole "send me a bag and I will pack it method." Of course there is mercari or poshmark (use referral code  workathomemom   ) but I think this process is so much easier with the ideas listed first. Heck; you can do like I have done in the past and do a little of them all from time to time. I do enjoy these companies a lot when I do my seasonal closet cleaning. My son and I accumulate so many clothing items we never even wear sometimes!

I have not sold on Vinted but they are a similar company to try; I will in the future. Everyone I know that has done consignment has different opinions on the companies. I do it just for fun or to get rid of clutter I can accumulate from shopping.

Another I have yet to try is Curtsy for selling but if you do try it; use my code WVNG

Each company has their own set of rules and policies.
